What do the control dials do?

I have fairly old Creda storage heaters but was not given instructions on working them when I moved to the house. There are two control dials one saying "Room Temp" with numbers 1 to 6 and the other "Auto Set control" with numbers 1 to 6. Can anyone tell me what exactly these dials do?

One controls the temperature at which the heater heats up overnight (probably "Auto Set Control").
The other is the boost control, which you can turn up in the evening to release more heat.
