Potterton Suprima 30 - The central heating doesnt always com on?

I have a Potterton Suprima 30, the central heating is playing up, intermittently does not come on. Could it be the pump?

once the boiler is switched on it fires up for a few minutes and then turns its self of again. i am also hearing a banging noise coming from the boiler i think it may be an air block

any ideas please
