Belkin Router, asks for a code ?

I've been given a Belkin Router for Cable. It asks for a code to enable me to use it wirelessly. The relative either forgot the code or there was none. Can it be reset or anything? It works when connected to modem for input and two separate outputs to computer and laptop with ethernet cables. pl. help

I have reset the router, It is shown as unsecured connection. How do I insert my own password to make it secure as it is visible and accessible by everyone.

Easiest way would be to reset the router. Hold down the reset button for at least ten seconds. Everything should be set to the default. Now you'll want to go in and set your own passwords. You'll want a username and password to be able to change the settings. Otherwise someone could go in and change your settings. Once that is done set up a password for the router. You'll want to use the best encryption possible. WEP is easily cracked so you don't want that. Once you have made a password for it go to your laptop and try to connect to the wireless. It will ask for the password. Enter it and the laptop should successfully connect. You can also try it without the password first to see if it works. But you definitely want it password protected! Otherwise people around you can use your wireless; if they are up to no good it could come back on you!
