I have the same washing machine and i had that problem. I then attached the hot water hose to the tap even though i don't use hot water and the problem went away.

I haven't seen a Simpson 750 with a lid lock light. What is written next to the light? How many times does it flash (i.e. 3 flashes - pause - 3 flashes) Also how many beeps then pause.
