RCD trips?

I have installed a consumer unit in my shed with a 40A 30MA RCD it works fine until I try and switch on my chop saw then it trips out, would a 63A 30MA RCD do the trick or would it still trip? Thanks.

YOU HAVE BROKEN THE LAW..... Did u have a part P registered electrician sign he job off. Probably not. If you dont understand electrics leave them alone its people like you that cause accidents

It would still trip - it's the 30mA that's tripping the RCD not the 40A.

Your saw appears to have an electrical fault allowing leakage to earth - it may be just a function of the saw - but an RCD trip is usually a warning of an unsafe condition.
