pilot light fault?

pilot light keeps going out, and we dont know why

Would help to know on what piece of equipment! If an older water heater / boiler where a permanent pilot is required this usually means the thermocouple is faulty. Cheap to replace parts never more than £10, but if you're not gas safe you can't touch it!
