what wires go were in my double light socket?

i bought a new double light switch which turns on the hallway and the out side light i dont understand the wireing casuse all the wires are red so it is confusing me.
the switch works in the hallway but not outside can someone please help??

i managed to swap the wires over to the over live terminal and they both in the wright postion thank you adam for all your help

Do you mean the switch appears to be upside down?
Is it?
If not try using the other live terminal, ie if you are using L2 use L1.

i managed to get them both working even if the out side switch is in the on postion but off outside and vica versa

you could find the live ones by putting them in connector block, turning on the power and using a neon screwdriver, separate them all out and use a non-contact voltage detector, or find the switched lives by connecting the live and earth at the fitting and using a continuity tester at the switch.

with them been all red how will i find out wich is live?? i have changed the rest of the house no problem but the hallway has me stumpend

Some of the wires will be live, and some need to be made live by the switches, which go off to the lights.
One side of each switch needs to be permanently live, the other side only live when the switch is on.

You may only have one live wire coming in from the consumer unit, in which case you would need a link between the switches.
