How can I fix a curtain pole in a limited space?

I need to fix a curtain pole to a sash window which is near a wall. There is only about 6 inches on the right hand side but plenty of room on the left. Would it look better if I left off the ornate end on the left so that the pole goes up flush with the wall? If I don't do this both ends will have to be the same and niether side will have much space to push back the curtain.
I would love some help with this.
Thanks.

see if your pole brand does recess brackets.these are designed for your problem.you would fit one on the end of the pole into the close by wall instead of the finial and normal fixing bracket.

Hi, I would love to come and help you out as you sound so nice but you didn't say where you are! never mind. Would you be able to change the pole ends for a smaller or shorter style so that you can keep them at both ends? I presume the pole has been cut to size and that you have about six inches either side of the window anyway? What if you tie the curtains back onto the wall each side and about 2/3rds way down, this means the curtains will cover only a small portion of window near the top and curve nicely down, and at the same time, outwards to where the tie-backs are, the lower part then falls vertically down towards the floor. I hope this has been some food for thought. Good luck.

you dont say how long the pole is ? the problem is when the curtains are open. you will have too much curtain on the right , they will be fine when are drawn, , i would keep the ornated ends, but cut the pole back on the leftside, as much as i could so it dont look too much different then the right end , but keeping room for the curtain, but keeping it tight,
