My curtain string has broken. Where can replacement string be found?

The curtain string on my window coverings has broken. I think I can figure out how to restring it if only I could find replacement string. I have tried hardware stores and DIY such as Lowes and Home Depot with no luck. Help!!

I have bought curtain cord from Outdoor Camping type stores in the past - it helps to take a sample with you to get the right diameter - I thought Wlamart sold everything?
