It would help if you said how you are trying to connect them at the moment, what goes wrong and and what the Freeview box (make/Model) is.
However the easiest universal way is with a SCART lead and then select AV on the TV set. Most (especially budget priced) Freeview boxes cannot connect via the Aerial socket which is only used for Broadcast Signal passthrough.
