How can I fix my Kenwood cordless kettle TK780?

I have only used this kettle just over a year. We brought it over here to NZ. IT WORKED HERE TO START WITH NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. HAS THE ELEMENT GONE. IS IT TOO LATE TO DESCALE IT IF IT ISN'T WORKING?
