Since a powercut a couple of days ago, my BT 4500 phone and answer machine has stopped working. If I lift the handset and try to get a dial tone a loud sustained tone sounds. I cannot get anything to work, despite having the handbook and trouble shooting with it. Power is getting to the machine and it does not seem to be the BT line in at fault. Has a power surge done for my phone?
