How can I fix a stuck shower pull switch?

When I pull the cord it does not operate the switch. It appears to be stuck. Can I take the cover off and spray it with WD40?

I wouldn't - remember WD40 is flammable so not a good idea to spray it near live terminals.
Switches aren't meant to be taken apart and mended - if this one is broken the safest theing would be to switch off the power at the consumer unit and replace it. A shower switch costs about £10, but that's cheaper than if something went wrong.
