I cant get the barrel in my PVC door lock to turn far enough to release the key. To lock the door I must leave the key in.

you need a new barrell. this usually happens if a key has been left on the inside and somebody has unlocked/turned a key from the outside. some times you can put the 2 keys in and try to reset the barrell( you will need a bit of patience for this). If you need to replace the barrell look on the side of the lock inline with the barrell and remove the screw you will need to put your key in to slide the barrell out.

ps. just check to see if it works when the door is open.
if it does then the door just needs adjusting.

take the barrel out and replace it.
on the metal strip on the edge of the door there is a screw directly in line with the barrel, remove this and turn the key approx a quarter turn and pull the barrel out.
measure the whole length and distance from both edges to centre of the screw hole. there are many sizes.
for ex. whole length 100mm edges to hole 50mm/50mm
100mm 60mm/40mm
and so on.
google `euro cylinder` or the likes of screwfix stock them, they`re pretty cheap
