F18 flashes what does it mean?

OK - here's how to get out of the situation when all 5 spin speed lights plus the wash light are flashing. This mode seems to be some sort of test or diagnostic mode:

Machine switched off at the wall
Turned dial to zero/off
Switched machine on at the wall
Turned dial clockwise to position 8 (spin)
Press & hold spin speed button
Turned dial clockwise to position 9 (empty)
Release spin speed button
All spin speed lights then turned off
Wash light remained flashing
Turned dial to zero/off
Turned dial to 40C wash
Start light started to flash and one spin speed light was flashing as per normal when you switch the machine on to start a wash.
Pressed start and the machine commenced a wash as normal.

I have the same. After replacing the motor which had burnt out (indicated by the top, middle and bottom spin speed lights being on), these error indicator lights stayed on.

I then found some instructions for an Indesit washer which was to

Switch off at mains
Turn knob to zero
Switch on at mains
Switch off at mains
Turn knob to spin
Switch on at mains

Once that was done, all the same indicator lights that you mentioned were flashing. I believe the machine is now in some sort of test mode.

I don't know how to get out of this yet though, but it is bound to be some combination of dial position and on/off switch.
