I had the same thing happen after the machine was out of warranty. My husband discovered that a wire had indeed snapped and so soldered it back in place. He does have a degree in electrical engineering, but it seemed pretty straightforward. The machine has been working fine since and no call out fee or, more importantly, waiting without a washing machine!

This is more often than not caused by the wires to the dryer sensor stat. They are a tad short and can either snap at the plug end at the sensor or go high resistance

I'm having the same problem, was told by hoovers mechanic that is was due to over loading. Now I've to call them out again.
