Buzzing Guitar String?

Need some help...

I've just restrung my Tanglewood semi acoustic, which I have never had a problem with, & while all the string are fine & clear, the A string is nothing but a low buzz.

I can get away with it playing chords, but it's seriously obvious when struck on it's own, even when not fretted!
I've checked the fret board, machine head. sound-hole etc & nothing seems to be touching the string or the touching peg.

I've even removed it & then strung it back on.
Nothing I do seems to effect it....just a buzz & annoyance!
I've never encountered this problem before with any of my guitars, so I really don't have a clue!

Could it be a faulty string?
Or am I being really thick & missing something obvious?

Any advice would be appreciated. Greatly!
Cheers.

It can only be buzzing on a fret so could be a heavier gauge than the last string, only cure is lighter gauge string or raise the bridge until buzzing stops.

Have you changed the string gauge from the last set? If lighter strings it could be vibrating in the nut or not putting enough tension on the neck causing fret buzz, you do need a very slight bend on the neck if yours is too straight you can adjust it with the truss rod. If heavier strings it could still be the nut, ensure the string is seated in the nut correctly. Have you pushed the string pegs in far enough? Check all your frets to see if any are raised up. Is it definitely the string? Try holding your tuning pegs one at a time whilst playing the A string to see if any are vibrating. Also check the nut for a hairline crack under the A string! this once happened to me and it drove me crazy until i decided to change the strings and the nut fell apart but that was a bass guitar.
