i have just got a matsui dvd100 recordersecond hand, but it wont play dvd's i havent tried to record anything yet but is this a fault any-one has heard off??? please,please help

sounds like the laser is broken. I have heard of this before, apparently there are two lasers, one for cds vcds ect and another for dvds.
