After 11 e-mails to Homebase I am still no further to getting the cap I need. It is a black disc with two finger lugs which simply fits on the spool carrier to keep the spool line in place and must cost all of 2p to manufacture. Homebase must be the worst company I have ever had to deal with - useless. Can anyone help?

An answer to an old posting. These are available though not from the Home Retail Group. They were available on Amazon and elsewhere as ALM manufacture as a non OEM spare. The price does vary from around £4 to almost £10 depending on where you obtain it from. This part fits one of the JCB trimmers as well as, I believe, one of the Flymo models.

Mine broke yesterday and I took it to Homebase but they've told me that this particular model has been discontinued, so even if they would have sold spare parts for grass trimmers they don't have anything for this model. I've tried looking elsewhere but no luck..what's more, I think this is still in the guarantee period but I can't find the receipt!

Stop wasting your time looking as they are UNAVAILABLE.
You CANNOT get them anywhere as they are UNAVAILABLE.
Throw your machine in the bin and do not buy a stores own brand machine again as you cannot get parts for them.

Sorry I can't help but I have the same problem exactly and agree that Homebase are no help at all. Surely someone must know where a spool cover can be obtained. Please let me know if you have any luck.
