I have a Smith mantle clock. The hourly chime is an hour out. It is not a pendulem clock. Any tips on how to set the hour right?

allow the clock to strike count the numbers now gently move the HR hand to the number the clock has just struck.
a clock finger can slip any amount of hrs out
example clock time is 2 o clock but clock has just struck 8 you would then have to advance the HR hand from the 2 to the 8 position to correct
