F05 appears on my Indesit Evolution 1600 WE16 model - what can I do?

My washer is halfway through a wash cycle and it now has F05 on the display - I cannot open the door or make it work at all - help!!!

The engineer who fitted the machine had put a kink in the pipe

To add an additional thought. Ttilting at 45 Undo the four screws that hold the filter to the actual casing. This then can be removed to make access easier. Undo filter and you can then get at the rubber drainage tube. This also has a square section that can get blocked too. Squeeze it to force anything out. I had silt that completely blocked it up. This resolved my problem. Make sure all connections are good and screw back into place. Good luck

Thankyou
followed advice, cap came off ok. Found 65p and a piece of a sock stuck in the propeller. working again!

Thanks so much for this advice! Moving machine may have stirred up the rubbish, I've had to repeat this three times in as many days. Found 10p and two 3" joinery nails! Working fine now. I did break the cap in the process, very silly to be made of plastic when it needs so much force to open it. Think I have got it on ok, not completely closed, but not leaking. Good to note that
you can get to the filter underneath without removing the silly cap - will try that next time (hopefully no next time necessary after the b******ing that husband will get for not emtpying pockets!!

Thank you for the advice on here - it really was very helpful! I just discovered a nice, broken up magnetic alphabet fridge magnet courtesy of my 2 year old son. I did have to spend a painstaking 1 hour draining the water SLOWLY from the black stopper as I'm very heavily pregnant and couldn't tilt the machine back but it was so straight forward and these instructions have saved us £80 call out costs. Thanks again!

As all of the above I unscrewed the filter cap (situated behind front kick plate) removed a couple of coins, still an error so then turned up machine to 45 degrees so that I could get underneath (electric turned off and plug removed !!) - I then disconnected the pump with some pliers (the metal fastener is v.tight) - removed another couple of coins - still an error - then did all of the above but also unscrewed the filter from the front of machine, disconnected pump, as above, then disconnected water pipe and electrical connector.......youbare then just left holding the filter !! I then removed the back part of the filter (with v.small allen keys) to get to the fan - a hair tie was wrapped around the same stopping it from turning easily - then reconnected the filter and pipes to washing machine - hey Presto - washing machine working properly - and saved a bin load from not automatically getting in an engineer !!!!

i had an f05 code. i took the rubber boot off to find 3 colour catcher sheets wrapped round the ball.

Thank you for this post, i had one of those little plastic things from one of my husband's shirt collars stuck in there... No money though! :o(

Thank you SO much! Just fixed my machine using this thread - saved me a callout fee - it was a pound coin and 3 five pences!

Spot on everyone and thanks very much. 1 year old daughters sock mangled in filter. Agree with others; filter cap is very tight and almost broke on removal; be careful.

REMOVE PLUG BEFORE YOU START. After being told to remove lower cover and unscrew cap, drained water out carefully, but found the cap did not come out as told, found this answer, tilted machine back, unscrewed completed fitting from machine, used pliers to open grippers to remove the 3 pipes, also took off motor at rear (special screws), found 2 - 1p's and part of my wife's best top! flushed with water & refitted, I hope that fixed it!!

Graham, July 2010
yes, also worked for me!!
thanks very much for posting helpful advise

My husband took all the above tips and we found some plastic clips.... so it works. it would be nice if the indesit paperwork that come with the machine would include all these pointers in there.

ap, January 2010
If, like us, you snap the black plug thing trying to loosen it, you can access it from behind by tilting the machine backwards, squeezing the silver clip together on the black rubber hose and removing it. You'll need pliers.
Aah Christmas Eve. The perfect time for a festive grapple with the underside of the washing machine.
Happy Holidays!

thanks Jenny - worked a treat.

Found a shirt collar plastic strip, hairgrip and a bra underwire.

Would add, to drain I tipped mine back against a wall. There was no need to remove the panel as I could reach the filter hatch from underneath. Took 4 kitchen bowls of water.

when the door unlocked I could squeeze the towels out, then bail out to speed up the draining. Took 10 minutes as I didn't want to open the hatch too far too early.

50p and a detatched tie up from my shorts in mine. Important make sure you drain it first

Richard, August 2009
yes ass above, worked a treat thxs

one thing to add though, if you have a washing in there that is wet remove it.

then let the machine finish its cycle empty,

then leave the machine for a few hours, after run the washine again but split into two loads (wet washing)

this will take the stress of the motor, which in itselfwill halt the cycle as 'too loaded' due the previous draining problem.

thanks again

I had 15p, a bra underwire and 2 hairclips. Its still coming up with f-05 and it wont rinse at all :S

SJ Paulin, November 2008

Yeah thanks a lot just pull of that white bit down the bottom and twist the black think anti-clockwise, (water may come out) and out popped 30p :)

Tom, October 2008
Worked a treat. Three coins and a sweet wrapper.

F05 means that there is something jammed in the filter. Down at the bottom of the machine is a panel, take that off and there is a black plug on the right, unplug it (This is quite hard to do, turn it until it loosens) you'll probably find something jammed in there (make sure you've drained it first, do this by tilting it back for a few minutes until you hear the door lock 'click' off)
