how do i find my host file in xp to repair it?

hi i browsed a website that just says--open windows explorer by opening "My Computer on your desktop or in the start menu
2 Browse to C:\windows\System32etc-------
there must be a sequence to get there to see the host file, i am not computer literate so unable to find it
i need the step by step sequence to do what is required please, laptop is IBM T23 running XP Pro

Your HOSTS file should be located in the following directory:

%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\

Also if you need to edit the HOSTS file i reccomend using a program called "SREng" you can download this application at the following address http://www.kztechs.com/eng/download.html
