I don't think its a resolvable issue. I recieved one as a disposal unit. worked ok for a couple months, then kaput. opened it up to begin T&E. Harnesses molten, yes molten. defective manufacturing. great looking tv monitor when it was working----Scrap it.

if you file a class action lawsuit start a website so we can all sign in on the lawsuit. This is bs the just patched you with a remanufactured you that fails. You can count me in. My comany had 3 of these we thrashed 2 and i kept one for the lawsuit when its started.

Warning, this is my personal opinion of a product I purchased from DELL. My DELL product appears to be more trouble than good. I began experiencing problems with the computer. The battery and mother board was replaced by DELL during the warranty period. I have had my computer since 2005 and have continued to experience the same problems (battery will not charge or hold a charge). I have paid several hundreds of dollars to DELL for Tech Support service because my warranty has expired. I paid over $1500 for my laptop. DELL computers are manufactured so that only DELL can service them and that with a hefty fee. As a DELL customer, I am a student and I will not purchase another DELL product; because it's not worth the headache, especially if you are a student or business person and need the computer daily. If you have a DELL, please save or keep all your files and important data on a zip disk.

i have same problem....and i fix it....I trow it out of the window...and bought a new one.....:)

Just fixed one of these, dry joints on the power board.Just look at the plugs on the board near the mains input socket, thats were this one was dry re-soldered now works..

LEE, May 2010
On my w2606c dell I found the center pin of D931 power board not inserted into the board, not connected. I pushed the center pin through the board and soldered same, no help. Just though someone might have same problem.

Dan, May 2010
The problem with these TV's is in the main board, dont waste your time trying to fix it.

You are screwed if the tv wont power up or starts to have power on problems.
Dont waste you time changing the PSU as 99% of the time its the main board thats faulty, theres no known repair for this even a reflow wont fix the problem.
Either contact Dell (probally too late now since the age is over 3 years) of recycle it at your local dump.

I've had dozens of these through my shop for repair with no chance of fixing them, its appauling the to waste such an expensive short lived TV.

AlphaPC, April 2010
enough of everyone saying that its broken can we find someone to tell us the fix or if its fixable? or even just to get the monitor working so i can at least use it for something else? that would be helpful!!

Hi
I have just come across this forum. I fear though too late. I bought a Dell W2600 26" tv second hand. I was attracted by the look of it. However it worked ok for 3 days and then died. It has been in the repair shop for 12 days. I got it home yesterday. It worked fine for an hour then same problem.
It is back at the repair shop as we speak. So far it has proved very expensive for 3 days viewing. Do you think I should not get my hopes up for a satisfactory conclusion?

Adam? Can you plz describe where th motherboard is located??

i need help, January 2010
ok i have heard a lot about this problem and people need to take a closer look.i got one from a friend cuz he was just getting pissed off at dell and he got a new tv.so if u take it apart and look at the mother board there are two buttons on it.plug ur tv in and push toughs at the same time then hold thoughs down and push the power button that should do it.

adam, December 2009

no warrenty. & this tv wanst cheap.
what to doo?

allygirll, May 2009
I phoned Dell a week ago the with same problem but with no luck so far. I bought my W2600 LCD in April 2005 (with 3 year warranty) which had to be replaced in July 2006 with Power-On Problem. It has now gone again in February 2009. I spent £900 on this and I had hoped it would last at least 5 years. Has anyone had a W2600 LCD last longer than 2 years?

Jem, March 2009
I am trying to talk to dell and have gotten the run from their out sourced help for over an hour! Customer service sucks! do they support their products bought second hand? This sticks! Please help! Dell isn't!

I just called Dell on the same problem. Today 1/17/08- I have 2 of these. They are out of warranty and they are replacing both.

rotj_01, January 2008
Well Monday 11/05/2007 my Dell W2600 died for the power problem. This is just 28 days before the extended warranty runs out. I called Dell and they immediately replaced the TV. The next morning I had a Dell W2607C sitting on my front porch. However here is my big issue now. I’m returning this replacement and I told them I will not accept it because it is a cheaper model lacking 2 important functions. First there is no picture in picture and second no card reader. Both of these are functions I paid for and expect in the replacement. If Dell does not upgrade this replacement then I will be retaining legal counsel and the States Attorney General.

Don, November 2007
Same issue, called Dell today Oct 28, 2007 and they are sending a new one out. Thanks for insight.

Mike, October 2007
I just called Dell because my w2600 has been sitting in my room for 6 months not working. However, 6 months ago when I called they wouldn't help me, even after I threatened to join the class action law suit against them. This thread dated June of 07 inspired me to give one last call to them before throwing it in the garbage. Guess what? They replaced it!!!! Yay!!!! I almost bought a new sony online 5 minutes ago too. So happy right now. I love Dell again, lol.

Phil, September 2007
I just called Dell and they are replacing the TV at no charge to me. They are replacing all the TV's with this problem so just call them and tell them whats wrong. FYI my TV is over 2 years old

Christian, June 2007
after getting my w2600 working again i let it run in another room for two days with no dvd or cable conected to it and it worked fine with the on off switch but scart in the dvd and sky box it only lasts for about 1 hour. now i hav ir running but the tv or sky remote wont work for volume control. could it be that it does not like the scart sockets

Rolfe, June 2007
I have a work arount to get it powered up, if you hold in the power button for about 5 seconds, you'll hear it make a click, then release the botton and try switching it back on, it should be ok.

Jono400, May 2007
I have been troubleshooting one of these and come to the conclusion the problem is in the microprocessor circuit.

I have been troubleshooting the power supply itself and it works fine as long as the Power standby pin (P802 pin 3) is floating (not connected). as soon as can get it connected back into the rest of the system, I will do more tests.

A quick fix might be pulling the wire at P802 pin 3 and the tv should work fine but will never go into standby mode.

most likely culprit is a corrupted eeprom in the tv. will let you know more when I do more troubleshooting.

dan, January 2007
i think the tv is just overheating ... i usually just unplug the power from the wall ... let it cool down for a bit ... and then turn it on...voila! ... but this is a very annoying problem ... and now my "POP PBP" function now does not work... i can like a screwed up screen when i use it... it's not the cable because i can watch a single channel fine...please help ?

I have a W2600 with the same problem. I have had the unit for a year and a half now, and it has been messing up daily now. Earlier it was once a week or so. Will it keep doing this until it just dies. If so, when should I contact Dell for help with this.
Thanks!

Hello Jos,
What was the solution, this would be a big help.

rudiau, September 2006
Hello
a solution has been already found for this problem I has also this way W2600 with the same problem
greetings jos

Jos, September 2006
I am answering this question in the hope of getting to the bottom of this problem.
This is what i have found so far,
The 3.3, 5.1 & 9 volt rails from the P/S are OK. The 14 & 22 volt rails are missing. However when you apply a 3.3v potential to the Standby pin of connector P802 the 14 & 22 volt rail fire up. This leads me to believe the Power Supply is OK but "Stuck in Standby".
The standby lead is controlled from the motherboard where i have come to a standstill.
I've heard there is some success in using electronic freeze spray on the motherboard in locating the faulty component however this did not work for me.
Further Info,
The power lead enters the mobo on pin 7 (counting left to right) of connector P220 and exits the mobo as standy via the control circuitry on pin 2 (counting bottom up) of connector P221 which is the standby lead of the P/S.
The 3.3 volt supply is a separate power supply (P/S) on a small board attached to the main P/S which is live all the time.

Rudi, August 2006
As of right now there are no fixes to this problem. I have started a class action lawsuit on this matter. Do a google search for "w2600" no power. You will be horrified on how many defective units there are in the country. Good Luck!!
