First reset the receiver in the fire by switching off its switch and the mains supply from the socket for some thirty seconds.
Next, reset the remote controller: undo the Philips screw on the back, and carefully remove the back. Next prize up the circuit board, complete with battery in its clips, and turn it over. On the back, with the battery at the bottom, you will find a slide switch. Move the switch all the way to the left, pause, move it all the way to the right, pause, and then move it about a third of the way to the left, until it drops into a detente. Now reassemble the remote carefully, keeping the battery in place. If it dosn't work now, you probably need to change the circuit board in the fire. Probably costs about £60 if you do it yourself. Good luck.
