how can I make my Zen Creative MX battery last longer than 1 hour?

I use my Zen Creative MX every day for eAudiobooks. It is approximately 14 months old. My other one only lasted 12 months. I take great care of them, and I don't recharge until the 'yellow triangle' shows up.

put the back light on lowest seconds and also

turn the brightness of the player down to the lowest

have the volume not too loud
