My Kenmore 80 series works great BUT has just stopped all spinning and agitating?

I just recently had the same problem with our Kenmore 80 Series washing machine. After inquiring with our local handyman, he suggested that the issue lay with either the lid switch or the timer. After checking the lid switch and finding it was not making good contact, I replaced this part ($18.59).
