smiths westminster clock?

Hi guys, I have purchased the above clock which works fine apart from one little thing, when I set the clock to "silent" and then next day put it to chime, it always chimes a half hour, then as 1 o'clock. then I have to turn the hour hand until it is again at the right time. Any advice thankfully recieved, cheers, George

Hi, On a Smiths chiming clock the chimes will automatically adjust themselves within 2 hours of switching the chime on.When the chimes are switced off they will chime the next one in the sequence when they are switched back on. Thus if it had chimed the first quarter when it was switched off it will chime the second quarter whatever the time is when it is switched back on. It will chime the third quarter 15 mins later, but will not chime the 4th quarter and then strike the hour until the clock reaches the hour. the clock will then strike the 4th quarter and then strike the hour. The clock should then stay in sequence until the chimes are switched off again.
