My Polaroid Portable DVD player (pdm-1035) has stopped being able to load?

My Polaroid Portable DVD player (pdm-1035), was resently dropped; it still powers up to the start screen and when the dvd is loaded goes to the loading display. But then it you can here the lens searching and the dvd spins but after about 2 tries it stops and reads no disc?

I have the same problem, and have noticed that the spindle end of the component that includes the lens transport is lower than the other end. This seems to cause the disc to catch and never get up to operational speed.

It's not obvious what holds the transport plate up. There are three screws through rubber bushes that seem to be meant to do it, but the one at the spindle end turns freely, as if the little plastic piece it screws into is stripped. Having nothing to lose, I super-glued it in place, inverted the unit, and it burst into life. If Darryl dropped his machine, that could have stripped the thread (in our case, I think it was pushing a tight-fitting DVD into place). When - not if - the superglue fails, I'll try epoxy resin.

my dvd player's picture is upside down, and i read the instructions and it still doesnt work! it says to use the arrow keys to rotate the picture, but thats would only be for a picture, but i dont know how to get an image since i only watch dvds on it. How do i rotate my dvd player screen?

you have a piece of debris on the laser eye. the fix is very simple. take the case apart and then pop open the plastic cover above the disk tray. you will see what looks like a clear plastic shield...this is not a shield it is the eye. dip a qtip or piece of tissie in alcohol or any mild cleaner for windows and gently wipe the clear shield several times. thats it. any time it reads no disc, or wont load just do this it works way better than cleaning discs!
