Changing a 1 gang switch for a 2 gang?

I have added an outside light. However I try, I cannot get the outside light switch to work. Both switches have, of course, Common, L1, L2, terminals and I'm sure I've connected the light wrongly, the existing light now on Switch 1 works fine as before. Can someone advise me of the correct connections for Existing Red, Black and new Brown Blue wires to get both up and running please? Thanks!

you dont say how old your house is,there are two ways of wiring lights, loop in loop out, this can be in the ceiling rose,(as we do it,)
or as some guys do in the switch pattress box,in this case you will have neutrals,in modern houses they favour the loop in loop out to the switch ,hope this helps

Thanks, I will do just that, Cheers!

It won't work by the sounds of it. Standard house wiring doesn't have a neutral connection at the switch position (can be done like this from the start) so you'll only have a live feed, switch wire (live when switched) and an earth.

Recommend that you call an electrician to do this for you, it should be notified for part P of the building regulations as well as it involves outside electrics (you'll need cert if you want to sell or insurance claim for poor wiring )

Yes, I've replaced the old 1 gang with a 2 gang, and am intending to wire the outside light into it, but cannot get it to work? Cheers for answering!

Have you just run a new cable to the light switch from the outside light or any others as well ?
