My Stihl ms170,starts fine but lacks power and stalls easily when idling .when running(no load)It won't rev to full revs as when new(it's two years old.
Any sugestions?

check screen in muffler, sounds like it is clogged, also that model has a tendency for the throttle rod to slip off carb.

probably needs tuning, look up "adjust carburetor - MAC-140" if this doesn't help it might be crap in the carb, fuel or air, if there are little plastic tabs on the adjustment screws, take them off, they're for emissons regulations from new and do no good at all, if still in warranty keep them on
