fixing a bathroom pull light rose to a broken ceiling?

In my bathroom I have a pull type light that is connected to the electric vent. The rose came down recently when it was pulled to turn it on. Behind the rose the ceiling contains many holes where this has happened on occasions before. Can you give me any ideas how to secure the rose to the ceiling?

or,just get a dry lining round box made for this sort of problem, you just cut a hole to suit the box and push the retaining lugs out to secure, then screw the switch to it using 4 mm socket screws, dont forget to remove the knock out at the base of dry liner to pull cables through, also turn mains off at fuse box

you need a strip of wood about 1 cm thick and 10 -12 cm long & slightly thinner than the hole in the ceiling tie a piece of string round the middle leaving some dangling push the wood through the hole so its resting on the ceiling use the string to pull the wood until it's in the centre of the hole while you pull down on the string screw through the plasterboard into the wood (2 25 mm x6 mm screws ) remove string you can now screw the ceiling rose to the wood ( use thin screws i.e. 6 mm ) its a bit fiddly but its a permanent solution
