This is a five year old, lightly used machine. Up until today it worked OK BUT would occasionally not start. Usually if I shut it off and retried it, it would start. Today it died while making a small batch of dough. It will not restart under any conditions. I have tried other working outlets too!

go to you tube and search for kitchen aid mixer fix and a nice man will tell you how to replace the plastic gear inside , which breaks to prevent the whole machine blowing. I ordered the spare gear from usa for £20 including postage.just do a search for kitchen aid plastic gear. Hope this helps.
