Recently, my television began tweaking. The sound cuts in and out horribly, sometimes we can't get any sound at all. I want to know is there was a way to fix it at home, or add my own speakers to it.

The CTC177 chassis (as well as various other CTC's) is notorious for problems. Most of them originate from a solder defect in the tuner. It is not wise to work on any CRT televisions without the proper training because of the dangerous voltages involved. If you are skilled in the area of tv repair, there are many sites with informatation on the CTC177 tuner repair. Just go to your favorite search engine and type:
"CTC177 solder connection".
