door catch not fully retracting when door handle is operated, and therefore door doesn't open, i have to force the handle down to get the catch to release. I have changed the spindle and components it fits into but still no luck.
any dvice please.
Try a handle from one of your other doors to see if its the handle spring that's at fault rather than the catch

If this is an standard internal door take out the lock from the door open the look and inside you will see spring wraped around a mount with one end of the spring bent which sticks in to the lock casement
wrap that spring around one more time this increses the tension on the catch which decreces the presure required on the handle. hope this helps.
