potterton ep2000?

Central Heating slider is not working. Hot water seems OK and lights the boiler but no joy with the CH switch. I can buy a EP2002 controller from ebay but will this be compatable with the 2000 system.

Both are old programmers, but I believe (from memory) that the backplate is the same.
