How can I reset a lost password on a Redhat/Linux system?

I forgot the password years ago, and now I get the message:"authentication token manipulation error ".
I am not concerned about any data loss, I just want to get it operational again.

If you have lost the administrator password to a linux system, you will need to reinstall the operating system.
