Repair elastic waste band?

I have a very expensive pair of ladies long underware for cold weather. (silk)

Elastic waste band has become stretched out.

you are going to have to remove the old elastic. make a small hole on the inside of the waist band so you can access the elastic. then pull it out carefully till you can remove it all leaving a gap where the elastic was, then get new elastic put a small safety pin in one end and re thread the elastic. When it's completly around the waist use the safety pin to get a comfortable fit but remember elastic shrinks in the wash 1st time. Sew the elastic ends together and the small hole you made. and your done

Now this is a repair job from a fella after watching my mother do repairs many moons ago..No don't wear em.....Snip small hole in back where elastic is snip and pull out elastic. Tape the new elastic to a cut down knitting needle or try a plastic drinking straw, about 3 ins long and feed it through nicked hole all way around of course back out of the hole and either sew ends together flat or tie poking tie end back in hole stitch up the hole. Job done. Don't forget to measure elastic around your waste first to a comfortable length, not too tight, not too lose. Mum taught me to be self sufficient which annoys the wife.
