My Baxi wm 511 RS does not heat radiators unless water heating is on!?

Help! My Baxi wm 511 RS is sick. The radiators will not heat up unless the water is being heated! It's an old boiler ... is this terminal? :-) Any advice would be welcomed!

Thanks Carefree but normally the heating works even if I do not have the water heating. It has (predictably) only just stopped working independently as the cold weather hits. :-(

If it is a gravity system the operation is entirely normal. Given the age of the boiler, the system is quite likely to be gravity.
