had this since new, always been a problem getting the fire on, the pilot lites then when knob released it goes out.. have had several gas engineers out and they say its the knob, or the ignition valve.... never resolves the problem...... When eventually manage to get the fire to stay on, the gas goes out after having been on for a while, and the latest thing is that you cant increase the gas - it stays on the same setting. plese help its freezing and cant get anyone to come out to fix it....

without knowing what exactly has been done it's hard to give accurate advice however first the pilot light has to be checked then the thermocouple then the gas valve solenoid and then the control knob and then the outer casing to make sure it isn't the casing that is causing the problem i can't understand why such a simple problem hasn't been corrected by the engineers i know that this isn't helping you but it would be stupid of me to encourage you to try and repair a gas fire a little knowledge can be dangerous before you call out another so called engineer make sure that he is familiar with this appliance any idiot can get a gas care card without any experience or real training

It sounds like a partially blocked pilot to me and maybe a blocked injector. Get it serviced.
