IT HAS A SHUTDOWN PROBLEM. WHEN YOU TURN IT ON IT PLAYS FOR 2 SECONDS, SHOWING A NORMAL MENU THEN GOES COMPLETELY DEAD.

I'm having a similar problem. The screen says the VCR is trying to eject, but there's no videocassette in the player. About 5 seconds later, the entire unit shuts down. I can't use any other functions.
