how can i fix my 1st generation ipod touch?
hi.i have a 1st generation 8gb ipod touch,yesterday i decided to update the software from 2.2.1 to 3.0,so i purchased the software update from itunes and downloaded it.then i began the update,everything was fine at first,the progress bar at the top of my itunes said it was extracting the software and then it said preparing ipod for update,at that point the ipod touch went off and an error message 1604 was displayed on my pc saying there was a problem.when i tried to turn my ipod touch on i just get the plug into itunes logo.so i then plugged it back into my computor and a message displayed that my ipod was in recovery mode and needed to be restored before it can be used with itunes,so i started the restore,and same as before,it extracted the software,said it were preparing myg ipod for restore then it went off and the. 1604 error message was displayed again.i don't know what to do,i've tried this several times and have done all I can,my itunes is the latest version,i've done all the button holding to try and get it out of recovery mode,i've uninstalled itunes and downloaded it again to see if that would work.my itunes only recognises the ipod the first time I connect it then when the reset fails the ipod is not in the device list also it's not displayed in my computor when connected.can anybody please help? My dad has a 3rd gen ipod touch,if I was to plug my ipod touch into his computor would that work or would it mess his up? I don't know what to do.thanks for the help in advance.
