new bathroom light with pull cord?

hi i have to wire in a new bathroom light which has one terminal block in it for live neutral and earth ,the problem is i have two sets of wires wired in to the old light two cables with live neutral and earth ,obviously one cable comeing from the pullcord

If you have only two cables the solution is relatively easy for you...

At the ceiling - Join the two red wires together and to nothing else - of the two remaining black wires connect each of them one each side to the lamp - one of the black wires will be the neutral return and the other switched live - to turn the light on and off.

You will need four connections at the ceiling
Permanent live
Switched Live
Neutral
Earth

You may need to use a terminal block to join the two red wires together.

"Ring Main" usually refers to household sockets where the supply cables make a complete ring from the consumer unit. House lighting is usually on a loop - from one light to another.

You are on a ringmain, the 2 sets of wires are 1 from the ring main and 2 to the light bulb. Google ring main light bulb diagram to see how it's done
