general info re hdtv & sky+?

Hi, first off I convey my thanks to this forum as it has saved me a Samsung HDTV repair bill and therefore paying for a Samsung maunfacturing error.

Any one with a faulty Samsung HDTV needs read this the relavent section on this web site FIRST.

Could someone please clarify a few basics re HDTV using Sky+. Because of the mix of info I am not going to goto Sky HD. As you can see I am confused. I hear anologue signals going to digital or vice versa, my HDTV upscaling signal or not or not enough. Then I hear Sky HD changes all this someway and then you can end up with a worse picture. We have a Sony BRAVIA KDL-32P2530 & Samsung LE-40R74BD. These intro another part of the equasion 1080P but not 1080i, which has a big difference for different reasons depending on this that ot the other. The way I see it is the pictures look good to me but can't help wondering how I am achieving this or if it can be bettered. Am I on an optimun setting or running the HDTV on full blast shortening it's life. What I could do with is an Auto button that does all this then tells me what's going on for the best.
