Our boiler has decided to start making the most gut wrenching noises.
We turned the power off because we had no idea what might happen next.
The pressure seemed fine (1.5 -2.0) but the temperature went off the scale! There was also that burnt dust smell.
We've had water with no problem, this started when the heating was turned on.
Any help before we call an engineer appreciated.
i HAD THE SAME THING AFTER FITING A NEW DIAPHRAM IT TURNED OUT THE DIAPHFAM PIN WAS STICKING IN THE ON POSITION AND SO CLOSING ALL 3 MICRO SWITCHES.
THE CURE WAS TO STRIP AND CLEAN THE DIVERTER VALVE.

Thanks for your help,
The guy I got to have a look at it when we moved in 9 months ago said it sounded like the pump. I called up Ariston UK and they said it could be the thermostat, the diverter valve or a blockage but not the pump because if it were we wouldn't have hot water.
I guess I'll get someone in and hope they know what's what!
Cheers

ABIT HARD TO TELL WITHOUT SEEING AND HEARING YOURSELF
BUT DON'T SOUND GOOD GETTING TO HOT . GET AN ENGINEER TO HAVE A LOOK.

That was a quick answer!
The boiler is an Ariston EuroCombi but there was no manual when we moved in. On the control panel flap it says it is a model: SX 20 MFFICE
(can't image that's enough information though).
Any idea?
Thanks
