I plugged it into laptop and transfered music before installing driver. Although my computer says the songs are on there, when i turn on mp3 player is just says 'No files' - I am a computer novice, please help! Have since reinstalled driver into laptop, but don't know what to do next to fix it....
Any advice (in laymans terms) much needed, thanks!

no you have not broken it,,when you plug it in to the pc, it should should up in (my computer) if you click on it there it will show what files/songs, it has in it now , go to utube and look up (how to transfer files to mp3 player useing windows meida player 11 ) look at some of the cilps on utube, you will find them very helpfull. your mp3 is fine..
