compaq m700 battery will not charge?

about 5 weeks ago ,i replaced the dying battery on my m700,now the new battery seems to have died,the battery icon has a red cross through it,saying,( power state)online critical,it works fine on the a/c power lead,is the new battery faulty? or has the charger gone? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have replaced both the battery and now the the power board, still with no luck.

my bios is as new as Compaq has posted as well.

Same thing :( replaced the battery, thought it was the problem, but it did the same thing to my new battery :( It won't charge, the red light is flashing :( i'm desperate... ANY HELP??

It's probably that the power board has a fault, and would need to be replaced.

Some of the old BIOS's have issues with Batteries but it should still charge up but I would ensure the BIOS is up-to-date ...
