Most machines rotate drum for few seconds in one direction then pause few more seconds then rotate in opposite direction, this normally continues throughout wash cycle but the times of rotation can vary with programme selected. Also you may find that some programmes don't rotate the drum for some minutes this is to avoid damage to delicate items and often occurs on wool cycle.
