pleated honeycomb shades?

I have the honeycomb pleated window shades in my living room. They are from Graber Crystal Pleat Window Fashions. Our cat jumped up on one (it saw the reflection of a hummingbird outside) and it tore numerous places in the middle of the shade. Is there any way I can remove about 10 pleats and pull up the lower material (which there is plenty of) to make the shade look better. Is it possible to sew this kind of material?
