Miele novotronic w 919 flashing main wash light?

I have a miele novotronic W 919 wps and have had it for about 13 years or a bit more. No problems til now. Soon as a wash programme is underway, the main wash orange light flashes continuously. It appears to go through its sequences, i.e, each light comes on as it works through but the main wash light continues to flash. The drum moves a bit but does not go round. What could this be. If you have a good idea what it is and whats needed, could you tell me how much a replacement part would cost???

If it is the same as my W840 - then it is probably the heating element failed. A good test is to run the machine and add very warm water through the open soap dispenser. If at the end of the wash cycle the light remains extinguished, then it was probably the heating element. This also ensures the control board and thermosst are obviously still workng. It was not a very big job to change. Undo the front door fasteners (ensuring Switched off) and withdrawer the heating element carefully (they are held in place within the drum by spot welded brackets). I bought a new element from UKwhitegoods.com. This saved about 70 Squid plus the hundred pounds labour!
