pilot light out?

I have a Ariston ACO combi bolier and pilot light is out and keeps going off, any ideas

If the pilot light is off. No Gas, If gas was getting to system, Pilot would be on, As long as it was ignited. Check supply lines.
Does it need a pilot light? Most combi system, will ignite when needed. other wise off. So does it need to be on?
